Welcome to Australian Masters

Masters weightlifting provides a structure for athletes, over the age of 35 years, to compete at local, national or international level.

The AWF is highly supportive of Masters weightlifting and the sport has flourished in recent years with growing numbers of males and females either returning to the competitive arena, commencing the sport for the first time or simply not retiring from senior competition.

Every state has regular Masters competitions with a mid year AWF Masters Championships and IWF World Masters Championship in September. In 2009 the IWF Masters Championships amalgamate with the WMG2009.

AWF accredited coaches are very receptive to introducing newcomers to the sport and many have gone on to represent Australia at the IWF World Championships and World Masters Games.
