Welcome to the website of the Australian Weightlifting Federation (AWF).

Established in 1947, the AWF is the National Sporting Organisation, responsible for the management, coordination and delivery of Weightlifting in Australia.

With eight state members being its constitutional owners, the AWF is governed by a Board of Directors of which six are elected and up to three are appointed.

Administratively, the AWF is lead by its CEO who is primarily charged with managing the overall operational direction of the Federation. Supported by the High Performance Manager, the Secretariat is based in Melbourne.

Via the generous financial support received from the Australian Sports Commission, Australian Commonwealth Games Association and Australian Olympic Committee, the AWF is a financially viable organisation that focuses on providing tangible high performance opportunities for athletes, coaches and officials.

Athletically, our lifters have won 4 medals at the Olympic Games and 54 Gold medals at the Commonwealth Games.
